Making changes
I open my eyes, chock-full of hope.
“Starting today, I'll eat better. No more junk food. No dessert when I'm already full. No ordering in when there's perfectly good food at home.”
“Starting today, I will exercise. Every morning, a brisk walk or a jog. No skipping workouts. No excuses about being too busy.”
“Starting today, I will read more. No more endless scrolling on my phone. Every night, at least one chapter before bed. Diving into stories and knowledge, not social media.”
Lying in bed at the end of today, I realize another day has passed without change. As I close my eyes, I promise, "But starting tomorrow, I will…" and fall asleep mid-sentence.
